As we move deeper into session, things are picking up quickly in Annapolis. Lawmakers are juggling a wide range of issues impacting businesses—from workforce regulations and healthcare access to pricing policies and energy legislation—all while keeping an eye on broader economic pressures.
A few big federal issues are spilling into the Maryland Statehouse this session. The Supreme Court recently tossed out a large chunk of the tariffs put in place under President Trump, saying they went beyond presidential authority. Now the administration is trying to bring the tariff program back using a different part of federal law this path may end up in court too.

The Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with six fellow chambers across the county, successfully kicked off the 2026 legislative year with a sold-out Legislative Breakfast on January 8th at Blackwall Barn & Lodge in Gambrills. The event drew more than 180 local business leaders, creating a packed house and a strong showing of regional engagement.
