Every now and then a special elected official comes along that really makes a significant difference in the lives of all citizens. Mike Busch was that special elected official. He made Annapolis, Anne Arundel County and the State of Maryland a better place because of his leadership and passion to do the right thing for the City, County, and State. He was a historic figure in Maryland politics as the longest serving Speaker of the House. Being the Speaker does not just happen all the members of the House, Republicans, and Democrats, vote and for 16 years they elected Mike Busch. In the sometimes partisan world of politics, this was a sign of respect and trust.
On Sunday, Speaker of the House Mike Busch passed away. He will be greatly missed by his colleagues, business leaders, and citizens from all over the State. He was a steady hand at the helm for the House of Delegates and he navigated turbulent political waters with skill and a desire to make a difference. He was truly a public servant and was willing to work and listen to a wide range of constituencies. Mike Busch did make a difference of all Marylanders and we may never see the likes of him again. Thanks, Mr. Speaker for a job well done. You will be missed.
