St. Anne’s School of Annapolis graduating Eighth Grade student Kennedy Leonard will be the first artist to install artwork for the South Forest Drive Business Association Art Beautification Project. The installation will take place on Wednesday, May 29 at 12:15 PM at the fence on Forest Drive outside Annapolis Middle School. Ms. Leonard’s three 5’ x 5’ blue crab creations represent Maryland’s environmental history and awareness. For her Capstone Project at St. Anne’s School, Ms. Leonard delved into the essential question: “How are artists helping to improve our environment?” Working with her Capstone Advisor, Mrs. Fitzgerald, Kennedy not only discovered artists in various mediums who draw attention to human impact on the environment but also became one of those artists herself. The SOFO Beautification Project will include artwork from many schools along the corridor and will tell a story. Each piece of art will be installed for up to five years.
