    Business Leader of the Year This award will be presented to the individual who has demonstrated throughout the year the exceptional qualities that are needed in managing a successful business or organization. Honoree should be a visionary and possess outstanding leadership attributes that have led to their organization being distinguished as among the very best. Criteria: • This award is presented to an individual not a business. • Both “For Profit” and “Non Profit Business Leaders” are eligible. • Include a description of nominee’s visionary and leadership attributes, and record of business accomplishments. • Include a record of ethical business practice attributes, and examples of corporate citizenship. • Include a listing of any previous recognitions of management and business success, as well as a description of business.
    Advocate of the Year This award will be presented to the person or business who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in advocating for a cause or issue that affects business, the economy, our quality of life, education, the environment, our youth, the disadvantaged, a charitable effort, etc. The advocacy can either be pro-active in recognizing a need or an issue and heightening awareness for action, or re-active by responding to an opportunity or challenge that needs addressing. Criteria: • This award is presented to an individual or a business. • Include a description of the issue or cause. • Include a narrative on how the individual or business organized and/or engaged in advocating for the cause or issue, and the outcome. • examples of the advocacy effort and testimonials are encouraged and welcomed.
    Non-Profit of the Year Award This award will be presented to the Anne Arundel County non-profit organization that has demonstrated the strongest effort in successfully using its mission and resources to improve the quality of life and business in Annapolis and Anne Arundel County. The selected non-profit will have shown superior commitment to working in close partnership with the business community to achieve the desired results over the past five years. Criteria: • Include examples of using the organization’s mission and resources to improve the quality of life in the region. • Include examples of partnerships developed in the community to achieve the vision and mission of the organization. • Include examples of a new program or service to expand community outreach. • Include a business description of the organization.
    Small Business of the Year This award will be presented to the Anne Arundel County business with fewer than 20 employees that has demonstrated outstanding skills in meeting business objectives, serving customers, and providing a quality work environment for employees. Criteria: • Include a history/biography of the business. • Include a description of strategies implemented to meet business objectives, and examples of customer service and quality of work environment for employees. • Include a business description.
    Green Business Award This award will be given to a business that demonstrates extraordinary performance related to sustainable – environmental practices such as water conservation, wastewater management, the promotion of alternative transportation and trash, energy conservation, on-site renewable energy production, the purchase of renewable energy, and sustainable food production. Criteria: • Include up to three sustainable environmentally beneficial practices to reflect the nominee’s activities. • Include a description of how the nominee’s green initiatives have impacted their operations or the operations of their customers or clients. • Include any awards, recognitions or media coverage received for their environmental practices.
    Don Riddle Corporate Citizenship Award An award to honor a business for its philanthropic contributions and strong commitment to public service. This award celebrates the recipient’s dedication to giving back to the communities they serve. Criteria: • Include up to three examples of the company’s community outreach over the past five years. • Include the level of the company’s employee involvement in the philanthropic activity. • Include a description of how the outreach has impacted the community, and a description of the sustainability of the program if applicable. • Include a business description.
